Job Description: As a key member of the EHS team, assist in the ongoing development and implementation of EHS processes to ensure effective risk control and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide leadership and support implementation of RR Donnelley EHS policies, objectives, and programs that will result in long-term improvements.
  • Facilitate site and regional EHS training and assessments.

Qualifications: Experience working in a manufacturing environment with proven track record improving health and safety performance and insuring environmental compliance. A demonstrated ability to work in a diverse environment, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels, work independently, and the ability to influence without authority needed, as well as an effective communicator and team player. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in environmental, safety or industrial hygiene and/or an advanced degree preferred. Education and experience in EHS management systems and process development, such as ISO 14001 and/or OSHA VPP experience is desired.

  • Conducting and/or coordinating industrial hygiene testing (and other testing as required) according to regulatory standards. Maintain exposure databases. Create reports of data for the staff and union employees as directed. Conduct respirator, noise, indoor air quality, ergonomics, chemical and other health surveys.
  • Participating in corporate activities as required. These include: monthly reporting of safety and environmental data, participation in periodic conference calls, participation in inter-facility audits, and corporate sponsored conferences or team-building events.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have a BS degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other technical discipline reasonably related to Company’s products and processes. Advanced degree not required. Pursuing Professional Certification in safety practices is very desirable.
  • Minimum of 2 years of safety-related responsibilities in high-volume, preferably foundry or machined products operations. Experience in ISO 9001:2000 environment desirable.
  • Must have strong PC skills in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Access.
  • Must be skilled in interpersonal relationship.
  • Presentation and training skills are a must.
  • A working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DEP and other pertinent regulations is desirable.
